Local Government Federal Credit Union Fellows come to the UNC School of Government to participate in a tuition-free program designed to strengthen leadership skills and passion for public service. Chris Atack, chief of police in Carrboro, North Carolina, and Duane Hampton, chief of police in Hillsborough, North Carolina, were both LGFCU Fellows.

“The most important thing was hearing different perspectives within local government,” Atack said. “Understanding that local government is a collective effort with myriad parts was a big concept I took away from this. You realize that there are a lot of people doing work that is all part of the mission of public service.”
