A meaningful support network

Carolina alum Brandon Feaster ’18 knew what he wanted out of college: great academics, a good athletics program, and a diverse community. What he didn’t know was that he would find the undergraduate experience he was looking for while also building the foundation for a career as a doctor.

As a Chancellor’s Science Scholar, Feaster built a cohort of friends who supported him during his undergraduate career and continue to support him after. The program also connected him with undergraduate research work at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, ultimately leading him to his current path in medical school.

“We are surrounded by one another,” Feaster shared, referring to his Chancellor’s Science Scholars cohort. “We understand what it’s like to help one another and work in a team environment. We have to pay it forward for future generations. That is how we impact and increase diversity in science.”
