Carolina is committed to infusing the arts into every part of campus. Creative Futures, a new initiative, will further that work, connecting the arts, scholarship and public service.

Acclaimed artists, Carolina students, faculty researchers and community partners will collaborate to explore scholarly themes such as free speech, women's empowerment and community health.

"The ideas are the distillation of a philosophical shift at our organization, which places primacy on the idea that the joining of the arts, scholarship and community can be a driver of powerful change," said Emil Kang, executive and artistic director for CPA and special assistant to the chancellor for the arts.

Creative Futures is made possible by a $1.5 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the largest grant the foundation has invested in Carolina Performing Arts.
