Nutrition

Provides critical funding to the department to examine how diet and nutrition influence health and develop evidence-based strategies to prevent disease and promote wellness across the state of North Carolina. Additionally, our faculty partner with Carolina Athletics to support the health and performance of Tar Heel student-athletes.

School of Education – Dean's Priorities

Provides support for the Dean to maintain the momentum of strategic visions as they advance the field of education.

School of Education Teacher Box

Provides support for the Teacher Box Fund, which provides each M.A.T. graduate with a starter kit of school supplies and UNC School of Education items for their first classroom.

Social Work-Continuing Education

Provides support for scholarships, which allow access to cutting edge research and practices to new practitioners and recent graduates when attending may be cost prohibitive.

Stone Center Communiversity Program

Provide support for the CommUniversity Youth Program (CYP) is the Stone Center’s longest-running outreach program. CYP, founded by Carolina students in 1992, serves an enrichment program for K-12 scholars. Communiversity Youth Program is supported by volunteers from the campus community and takes place after school, four days per week during the academic year.

The Barry and Ann Hounshell Fund

Honors the work and life of Barry Hounshell, former faculty member at the UNC School of Education, and his wife, Ann, in hopes of reminding students and faculty members of the importance of mentoring and developing lifelong commitments to their students in the UNC School of Education.

The Carol and William Malloy Endowed Travel Fund

Provides support to graduate students with travel expenses incurred while sharing their research at education conferences.

The Dean E. Smith Scholarship Fund

Provides support to a student or students enrolled in the UNC School of Education who plan to make a career as teachers in elementary or secondary schools.

The Dr. J. Kimball King Distinguished Professorship Fund

Provides support for a professorship in English and comparative literature in honor of Dr. J. Kimball King's legacy of teaching excellence.
