Student governance has long played an important role at UNC. It has been a hallmark of the Carolina Way, and there is no better example of the role of student leadership than the Eve Carson Scholarship, which celebrates juniors at UNC who have grown significantly in the areas of academics, social justice and leadership during their time at Carolina.
The Eve Carson Scholarship Executive Committee is composed completely of undergraduate students and coordinates the entire management process of the Scholarship—including fundraising, public relations and the recruitment and selection process for the scholars each year.
The tradition of student governance at Carolina has played a remarkable role in the growth of the University and in the lives of student leaders. Opportunities, such as the Eve Carson Scholarship Executive Committee, allow students to gain experience in a variety of leadership settings, helping to fully prepare students for comparable roles in their communities as Carolina alumni.
Support for Carolina has provided countless experiences to students from 100 N.C. counties, the entire country and the world and helps continue the legacy of the “Carolina Way” for today and the student leaders of today and tomorrow.
