Carolina Women's Center

The mission of the Carolina Women’s Center is to empower women and promote their equality in all spheres of life and to celebrate the work of women that betters humankind. The CWC works to achieve its mission through advocacy, education, outreach, referral, and support.

The Carolina Women’s Center, established in 1997, serves the women of the Carolina community – faculty, staff, students, and alumnae. The center is the culmination of the efforts of women at Carolina over several generations to improve the status of women and provide an infrastructure to represent women’s interests. The CWC was founded to speak for the over 20,000 Carolina women on issues such as women’s health, campus safety and security, child care, professional development, pay equity, and the climate for women on campus. Although the CWC has an interest in all issues that impact women’s equality and empowerment, it is currently focused on four major initiatives: campus safety, childcare advocacy, mentorship, and leadership development. While the Carolina Women’s Center was formed to respond to the needs of Carolina women, many of our programs are of interest to Carolina men, and all women and men on campus are encouraged to participate.
