College of Arts and Sciences
Carolina's College of Arts and Sciences is as old as the University itself. Since 1795, Arts and Sciences students have received one of the finest liberal educations available. Because our undergraduates, graduate students and faculty comprise Carolina's liberal arts community, the College is the heart and soul of the University.
More than 3,200 freshmen enter the College every year and spend their first two years in the College studying the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities and fine arts. More than 70 percent of seniors receive Arts and Sciences degrees. These students are taught by the College's 700 faculty members. There are more Carolina faculty in Arts and Sciences - by far - than the other academic schools combined!
