Carolina First

Senior Campaign

Why Does Carolina Need Private Support?

Tuition and state funding provide less than half of the money needed to operate Carolina. Private support such as charitable giving by alumni, students, parents, corporations and foundations joins investment income to provide 24 percent of the dollars needed to run UNC each and every year. The Senior Campaign strives to get students in the habit of giving back to the university we love.

Carolina relies heavily on private gifts to maintain the quality of our academic programs, services offered to students and athletics. Carolina would not be the institution it is today – a top-ranked center of learning and an NCAA basketball champion – if it wasn’t for private annual gifts.

What is the Senior Campaign?

Each year, Senior Class Officers and Marshals work hand in hand with the Office of University Development to create a student-centered giving campaign. Seniors are encouraged to give during their senior year to the class campaign and, by doing so, are made aware of the institution's needs for private giving. It is the development office's intent to educate seniors on the importance of annual giving and, by making their first experience positive and meaningful through the Senior Class Giving campaign, establish a pattern of future giving.
