Heelraisers are all around you on campus. The freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes are all well-represented. Take a look at your fellow students who have decided to help build the tradition of excellence at Carolina.

“There was a moment this year when I felt I became a real Tar Heel. It could have happened the first time I marched with the band into Kenan Stadium; guided my first tour of prospective freshmen across the campus; led my first orientation group; joined the Campus Y; served as Residence Hall Association President or when I became a Senior Marshal: Carolina has given me so many challenging, wonderful experiences. Instead it happened when I started giving back to the University. The few dollars I gave to Carolina gave me a stronger sense of connection to the place I’ve called home for the last four years. I gave to Kenan-Flagler Business School this year out of deep gratitude for an education that set me on my career path: after graduation, I will go to work with Intel. In all my activities mentioned above, I benefited from private funds. I’m proud my donation will join with those of others to help students just like me.”
— William Thompson, Class of 2008
“Academics are a very important part of student life. Seeing so any improvements around campus funded by donations is inspiring. I believe that it’s never too early to give a helping hand, even if it’s a very small donation which can increase in size as the years continue.”
— Christian E. Mibelli, Class of 2009, Health Policy and Administration / Pre-Med
“My experience as a Morehead-Cain scholar at UNC has been, in a word, extraordinary. In addition to fully-funding my undergraduate experience at UNC, in three years, I have completed a wilderness education course with the National Outdoor Leadership School, taught English in Ecuador, traveled throughout Spain and Morocco studying the impact of Christianity and Islam on modern women and studied abroad in Beijing for a semester. For my final summer experience, I will be returning to Beijing to work with The Today Show during the 2008 Summer Olympics. When donors contribute to the Carolina Annual Fund, they have the option of designating their financial gift specifically to the Morehead-Cain Foundation, giving students like me the opportunity to take their university experience to the next level and also to use their unique opportunities to better serve the UNC community. Students and alumni can directly give back to a UNC facility or service or organization that has directly impacted their own lives. I am so grateful to the Morehead-Cain Foundation for the opportunities it has afforded me, and I know that now, through the Carolina Annual Fund, I can give back directly to an institution that has done so much for me.”
— Nori Oxholm, Class of 2009
