Whom does the Annual Fund employ?

The Annual Fund employs a team of 6 full-time employees to operate the programs of student giving, young alumni giving, direct mail, online and phone. The Annual Fund also contracts with a Carolina alumnus owned call center that employs dozens of current UNC students who contact alumni, friends and parents of Carolina to keep them connected with the University and inform them of the need for private support.  (back to top)

We contact more than 100,000 Carolina alumni, parents and friends every year.

Why do you call?

We call with thanks for past contributions and/or to encourage support for academics at Carolina.  We provide a personal connection to the University while seeking to increase alumni participation and involvement, which in turn helps the University in national rankings and leverages Carolina for large corporate gifts and endowments.  (back to top)

When do you call?

We make calls throughout the year on Sunday through Thursday evenings, as well as some Sunday afternoons.  For special campaigns, we occasionally make calls Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.   (back to top)

Can I choose where I want my gift to go?

Yes!  We accept gifts to hundreds of academic areas at the University.  Let us know the area you wish to support, and we will direct your gift accordingly.   (back to top)

 

Are you affiliated with the Rams Club or the General Alumni Association?

No, we raise funds for academics at Carolina.  The Rams Club supports athletics, and the General Alumni Association (GAA) solicits membership and collects dues separately.   (back to top)

 

Can I donate to athletics through the phone program?

Yes, but our purpose is to raise funds for academics.  (back to top)

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes, your gift is 100% tax deductible.  (back to top)

 

Can I give with my credit card?

Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.  (back to top)

Can my company match my gift?

Yes, matching gifts increase the overall value of your gift and can qualify you for special giving clubs and benefits.  Your employer's human resources division should provide you with the appropriate forms. You can also check our online database of matching gift companies here. (back to top)

Sometimes I get mailings from the school from which I graduated.  Is your call related to these mailings?

We call on behalf of your school, and we will designate your gift wherever you choose.  If you pledge over the phone, we will send you a pledge card and information about the area you choose to support.  (back to top)

What if I want to support UNC in general, instead of giving to a specific area?

We have a special fund for University-wide unrestricted giving called the Chancellor's University Fund.  The Chancellor uses these funds wherever the need or opportunity is greatest.  (back to top)
