Designating Your Gift

You can specify the purpose of your gift and the school, department or unit that will benefit from your generosity. We will work with you and your advisors on a gift that is personally satisfying and beneficial for you and for the University.

Gifts that are unrestricted in purpose provide the greatest flexibility to Carolina. These gifts allow the Chancellor and the Board of Trustees to direct resources where the need is greatest. You may also restrict your gift to a particular area on campus, such as to the department where you received your degree, to need-based scholarships, or to the Academic Affairs Library.

Please know that the Office of Gift Planning is a resource for you. We are available to assist you and your advisors as you consider the many opportunities presented in this booklet so that you can accomplish your personal goals as well as making a satisfying gift to the University.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Foundation, Inc. was established for the purpose of receiving gifts on behalf of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and its schools and units. Affiliated foundations also were established to accept gifts to benefit specific schools and units at the University.
